2026 Annual Meeting

Hosted by Holston Conference Commission on Archives and History, this event will celebrate Methodist history in our area of the southern Appalachians, with speakers and history drawn from the diverse parts of Methodism that formed the Holston Conference (Holston MEC, Holston MECS, the Evangelical United Brethren, Methodist Protestant and East Tennessee Conference of the Central Jurisdiction).

The Holston area of northwest Georgia, east Tennessee and southwest Virginia have an abundance of Methodist history, and the town of Greeneville is also known for its association with President Andrew Johnson. Johnson’s family was affiliated with the Methodist church (MECS) in Greeneville, and he is buried in the national cemetery just south of downtown.

Speakers will include Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett of the Holston and West Virginia conferences, as well as other Methodist historians. We will be celebrating our heritage landmarks and visit the site of Morristown College in historic and nearby Morristown, Tennessee.
